Make a Gift Online via electronic check or credit card. Redeemer pays 1.5% to 2.5% of merchant fees for each credit or debit card gift with AMEX credit card gift on the upper end. Please consider using electronic check when making large gifts.
Place your checks/cash in the offering on Sundays. Beginning January 1, 2017, please note that checks placed in the offering basket are recorded to the church where the check is received (e.g. Redeemer East Side, Redeemer West Side, Redeemer Downtown, Redeemer Lincoln Square) on the Sunday when they are received. If you intend your check to go to a different congregation you must write the name of the congregation in the memo line. For all checks meant for the Rise Campaign or another designated fund, you must write the fund in the memo line of the check. Remember, in order to receive the appropriate documentation you need for tax purposes your name and address must be clearly identifiable on your check.
Mail your checks (please don't send cash) to the church office. Beginning January 1, 2017, continue to make your check out to Redeemer Presbyterian Church specifying the church name (e.g. East Side, West Side, Downtown, Lincoln Square) in the memo line of the check. Otherwise the check will be recorded to the Redeemer General Fund and not designated to any one congregation/church. For all checks meant for the Rise Campaign or another designated fund, you must write the fund name in the memo line of the check and writing a church name in the memo is not needed for a gift to a designated fund such as Rise or Diaconate Mercy Fund. Checks are recorded on the postmark date on the envelope:
Redeemer Presbyterian Church
Attn: Finance Dept.
1166 Avenue of the Americas - 16th Floor
New York, NY 10036
If your bank has automated bill paying (i.e. JP Morgan/Chase) you can set up Redeemer Presbyterian Church to receive electronically generated checks, allowing you an easier way to be systematic in your giving.
Remember, in order to receive the appropriate documentation you need for tax purposes your name and address must be clearly identifiable on your check. For gifts made by mail at year end, IRS regulations require that the postmark stamped on your envelope bear the same year as that for which you intend to receive credit for the gift. We are precluded by law from crediting in December any gift received by mail postmarked in January of the subsequent year.
Redeemer has added a new easy way to give. You can now text a gift any time. Simply type in the amount you wish to give, 10, 20, 100 etc. and if it's the first time, you will be asked to register. The process is simple, secure and you do not incur a fee. For future giving, save the number to your mobile device.

2. You will be asked to login or setup an account (if you don't have one already).

4. You will then be directed to the final checkout screen and will be given the option to:

b. Optionally add a charity certificate (only if you have set this up previously).
c. Optionally add an additional cash gift that will be deducted from the same amex card (there is a 2.25% fee).
5. Once you complete this screen, your donation will be final. Please note that you will receive a tax receipt for your gift of points from American Express Gives (powered by GuideStar) for $10 for each 1,000 points donated. You will not receive a gift receipt from Redeemer.
Many companies match employees' gifts to charitable programs, and there are certain Redeemer divisions, such as Redeemer Counseling Services, that meet many companies' requirements for matching gift programs in the event that Redeemer Presbyterian Church does not qualify. Many companies do not allow matching gifts to religious organization or churches. Redeemer Counseling Services is a non-sectarian organization who accepts clients regardless of their religious beliefs. If you know your company has a matching gift program, or believe they might, please contact the individual at your company who handles matching gifts to obtain any paperwork on your company's policy and your eligibility as an employee. You may also want to ask the contact person for your company's matching gift program if Redeemer or Redeemer Counseling Services has received matching gifts in the past. In the event that Redeemer needs to complete any paperwork, or confirm completed donations, please direct all requests to Priscilla Dewing at [email protected] or 917-206-1427 or Redeemer, 1166 Avenue of the Americas, 16th Fl. New York, NY 10036.
Also, if you give through your company's United Way program, you may be able to write-in a regular gift to Redeemer Presbyterian Church through United Way. Typically, Redeemer does not have a 5 or 6 digit United Way donor number, but can be written in to receive United Way contributions.
You can donate appreciated securities - stock, mutual funds, bonds, ADRs (American Depository Receipts), and other 'property' - and often times receive a greater tax benefit than you would receive as compared to selling the appreciated securities and then donating cash. Donations of appreciated securities are recorded as a charitable gift at the appreciated amount. Also, by donating appreciated securities you can avoid recording a capital gain in the security (assuming the investment has appreciated and that you have held the asset for more than one year). You should check with a tax professional before initiating any transfer of securities. If you would like to donate securities you can initiate the transfer through your broker and request that the securities be transferred to:
J.P. Morgan Clearing Corp.
Account Name: Redeemer Presbyterian Church
Account Number: 73301394
DTC #: 0352
Please contact Priscilla Dewing: 917-206-1427 or [email protected] if you are considering this kind of gift so that we can understand how you would like this gift to be utilized and send you a tax receipt in a timely manner.
If you are considering a gift of a mutual fund, please read the special instructions.
For gifts of securities, please note that it may take four to five business days from the time your broker initiates a stock transfer to Redeemer until the settlement date when the proceeds are credited to Redeemer's account and recognized as a gift.
You can make a gift to Redeemer via a Donor Advised Fund, such as Fidelity Charitable Giving. Please keep in mind that your tax receipt will be issued by the Fund, not Redeemer. Redeemer will include any Donor Advised Fund gifts on your contribution statement, under the 'non tax deductible' section. Please advise the Donor Advised Fund with the instruction of which fund (eg, West Side, East Side, Downtown, Lincoln Square, Rise/NYP) the gift is intended.
Amazon has started a program called AmazonSmile whereby they will donate one-half percent of your purchases to the eligible charity of your choice. Redeemer is registered as an eligible charity and you may designate Redeemer to receive the .5% donation by clicking on AmazonSmile above or https://smile.amazon.com/. In order for Redeemer to receive credit you must use smile.amazon.com rather than www.amazon.com to make purchases. Please note that you will not receive a tax receipt for donations made via this program, as all donations are made by the AmazonSmile Foundation.
Redeemer is working on a way to directly accept bitcoin donations. Current Redeemer members and attenders are encouraged to work through Fidelity Charitable Gift Fund to donate bitcoin. Once bitcoin donations are available at Fidelity Charitable Gift Fund, they can granted to Redeemer Presbyterian Church of New York (Federal Tax ID 13-3555328). Please note that according to the Fidelity website, donors should determine fair market value of the bitcoin by an independent qualified appraiser, and report this value to the IRS using IRS Form 8283.
