The Philip Series
Upcoming class: The Mission of God and the City
God made cities and God loves cities. Cities are so important to God that when the Bible describes God’s coming kingdom, his kingdom is described as a city. The prophet Isaiah encouraged ancient Israel with a glorious vision of this coming city in chapters 25-26 of his book, reminding his readers that God’s future city will be a place of feasting, joy, justice, safety, love, and life that never ends.
What practical value does hope for God’s future city provide for us today? Join us at the Philip Series on 1 June as we explore Isaiah’s prophecy and learn together about God’s future city, and how God is inviting us to join him in in renewing New York City as we await the coming city of God.

What is The Philip Series?
'Do you understand what you are reading?' Philip asked. And the Ethiopian said, 'How can I unless someone explains it to me?' . . . Then Philip began with that very passage of Scripture and told him the good news about Jesus. (Acts 8:30b, 31a, 35)
The Philip Series is a course developed to explain the presence of Jesus and the gospel throughout Scripture.
This year in the Philip Series, Rev. Bijan Mirtolooi will lead us through five case studies of “applied theology:” taking an aspect of biblical teaching (doctrine) and applying it to our lives in personal and practical ways. Join us so that you too may ‘understand what you are reading’ and gain insight on how these Old Testament texts point to Christ and shape our life in community today.
