“It would not be right for us to neglect the ministry of the word of God in order to wait on tables. Brothers and sisters, choose seven men from among you who are known to be full of the Spirit and wisdom. We will turn this responsibility over to them and will give our attention to prayer and the ministry of the word.” Acts 6:2-4
In the book of Acts, we see the on-going expansion of the church through community formation and mobilization of servant-leaders. Once a year during the month of November, Redeemer members have the privilege and opportunity to recommend other members for elder, deacon and deaconess.
The primary work of the Diaconate is practical deeds of mercy. Deacons and deaconesses minister to those in our church family who find themselves in distress, crisis or emergency situations caused by illness, job loss, long-term unemployment, or other immediate physical, material, spiritual or emotional needs. We invite you to prayerfully consider who you would nominate to serve on the Diaconate so that we can see God’s kingdom expanded as a result of both deed and word ministries.
