Use My GiftsWe encourage musicians who are interested in participating in the music program to explore the full range of ministry opportunities available to them. While opportunities to serve in the worship services are limited, the need for trained musicians throughout Redeemer is great. Whether through volunteering with Hope for New York, participating in the music at Redeemer affiliate churches, leading music at a fellowship group, or working on collaborative projects with other Redeemer artists, musicians willing to serve will not only find rewarding ministry experiences, but will be able to connect with other musicians and glorify God with their gifts. Worship ServicesRedeemer has five weekly worship services. The morning services use primarily classical music and the evening services feature jazz and contemporary music. View our service times and locations. We welcome new musicians! It is our practice to utilize those musicians who are involved in the Redeemer community through membership, regular worship and Fellowship Group attendance or participation in one of Redeemer's ministries. Because we focus on encouraging and developing artists from within our community, we are not able to accommodate touring artists or visiting choirs. If you are interested, you can join a choir or request an audition. ![]() Redeemer offers a number of choral opportunities ranging from small ensembles comprised of professional singers to large volunteer choirs. Small choral ensembles are used in different worship sites throughout the year in both the classical and jazz services and are contracted as needed. An audition or prior soloist experience at Redeemer is required. Contact music@redeemer.com for more information. Professional Choral opportunities occur seasonally and are contracted as needed. These choirs require an audition or prior soloist experience at Redeemer. Contact music@redeemer.com to schedule an audition. The Voices of Redeemer Volunteer Choir sings 4-6 times per year and is open to anyone in the congregation who loves to sing. Music reading and prior experience is a plus, but not a requirement to participate and there is no ongoing commitment. Contact music@redeemer.com for more information. In order for us to assess the best ways for you to integrate into the musical life of Redeemer, we schedule a brief and VERY informal audition. Of course, we want to hear you play or sing, but most importantly, we want to meet you, hear about your life and how your faith impacts your work as a musician. We'll also share with you about the many opportunities for service and community available to musicians at Redeemer. Auditions are normally scheduled on Monday afternoons at the Redeemer office. We ask you to prepare 2 contrasting selections to share with our music directors. Contact music@redeemer.com to schedule an audition. Music at Redeemer Affiliate and Network ChurchesRedeemer is not only a church, but a movement of churches. We currently have Affiliate and Network congregations throughout Manhattan, Queens, Brooklyn, Long Island, Westchester County and New Jersey. These congregations share the same philosophy as Redeemer but are smaller and often have significant need for musicians. If you are looking to be actively involved musically by participating in worship, these congregations need you! See our list of Redeemer-affiliated congregations. Music Leaders for Fellowship GroupsMost of Redeemer's weekly fellowship groups have a time of worship and singing as a part of their meetings and need capable guitarists, pianists and singers to lead. If you are not currently in a fellowship group, we strongly encourage your participation as a place to grow in your understanding of the gospel and as a way to build community at Redeemer. Find out more about Redeemer's fellowship groups. Mercy MinistriesWe strongly encourage our musicians to use their gifts to serve needs throughout the city both musically and otherwise. Hope For New York, Redeemer's ministry of mercy and justice, has partnered with numerous affiliates that need musicians and other artists. Through these ministries, you can provide music at nursing homes, lead worship for AIDS patients, give a recital to inspire kids and much more! You can obtain a list of these service opportunities by contacting Ashley Arndt at ashley@hfny.org. To receive regular updates of all HFNY needs, send an email to monthlyupdate@hfny.org and ask to be added to their email list. Their website www.hfny.org also lists non-musical opportunities. |
