Volunteer Opportunities

Ushering: Our Ushers are the "hosts and hostesses" of Redeemer on Sunday, and are often the first person an attendee encounters when coming to Redeemer. Ushers help the congregation by distributing programs, finding available seating, and collecting/counting the offering. Our Usher Teams rotate each week, and serve once a month. This Ministry is ideal for Team players who are cool under pressure, and capable of balancing assertiveness with graciousness as they find seating for the arriving congregation.

Communion Ministry: This Ministry is reserved for Redeemer members only. The Communion servers prepare and distribute the elements of the Lord's Supper, that is served once a month.

Welcome Center Ministry: The Welcome Center provides general church service information and a warm "welcome" to everyone coming to Redeemer. This ministry is a great fit for social types with a heart for visitors new to a church and a city overwhelming in size.

The Welcome Center has expanded at the West Side services to include a team of volunteers who serve once a month during the coffee hour, and are trained to approach people standing alone–an oftentimes awkward hour for newcomers.

Book Table Ministry: The Book Table Ministry volunteers encourage the spiritual growth of the congregation by recommending literature we offer for sale. Ideal for avid readers that are enthusiastic about Christian authors and literature, and are comfortable interacting with others one-on-one. Other responsibilities include set up/tear down, managing money, and keeping track of inventory. This is also a once per month commitment.

Information Center: The Information Center seeks to facilitate the connection between attendees and Redeemer by providing more information regarding Redeemer, its Ministries, and events. Volunteers serve during the coffee hour on a once-a-month basis.

Requirements to Serve

While you consider connecting to Redeemer's community of volunteers, please consider the following commitments:

Commit to serving for one year on a monthly rotational basis.

Attend ONE Volunteer Training Event during your first year of service. Our VTEs are held 3 to 4 times each year. Advanced notice for each VTE will appear in the church program.

The Perks!

Just as the Sunday Service Ministries volunteers seek ways to better serve the congregation, we are seeking ways to support the volunteers. As an expression of our thanks to everyone who is on duty during the worship service, volunteers receive a free sermon CD from the Media Table after each time they serve. After three months, volunteers have the option of switching their gift to a weekly MP3 sermon subscription. We also organize numerous fellowship opportunities for volunteers throughout the year like our Spring Picnic, Summer Philharmonic in the Park, Harbor Cruise, Fall BBQ, Winter Sledding Day, Christmas Party, and more!
