Downtown to Begin Worship Services October 21st

October 2012
by John Lin

On October 21st, Redeemer Downtown will begin worshipping as a congregation at the Metropolitan Pavilion, which is located at 125 West 18th Street, between 6th and 7th avenues. We are thrilled to be launching both a 9:30AM and a 5:00PM worship service that day. This day marks the beginning of our journey together as a congregation. Because of the outpouring of gifts through the RENEW campaign and the additional funding raised during the Downtown Challenge (over $1.6MM, over 1400 givers), Redeemer is able to begin serving Downtown in a way we never have been able to before. My entire team and I, thank you for your support: financially, through prayer, encouragement and your commitment to furthering the work of the gospel in this City we call home.

I’ve talked to many lay leaders who are eager to invite neighbors and colleagues to church and are ready to serve in a way that points newcomers to the gospel.  Many of you are part of the founding team that will leave the comforts of an established congregation and move out to start something new. More than merely a convenient place for us to attend church, this will become a more effective platform from which we can serve the City, engage our neighbors and seek the peace and prosperity of Downtown.

We have much work to do in the coming days and weeks. I ask you to pray for our staff, leaders and volunteers, and if you'll be worshipping with us, please consider serving at one of our services. For more information, go to www.downtownchallenge.com and sign up. Thank you.

In Christ,

John Lin
