Congregational SeminarsFinancial Stewardship SeminarsThe Financial Stewardship Ministry offers seminars, small groups and workshops on a variety of topics. This ministry is a partnership between Stewardship, Counseling, Diaconate and Center for Faith and Work. In the Budgeting from a Biblical Perspective classes you will learn how to apply the gospel to your finances, develop a personal Spending Plan, use different record-keeping systems, and most importantly, you will discover how being financially faithful can help you become financially free. This is offered in a one day format or 4 weekday nights. The Debt Reduction Workshop (2.5 hours on a weeknight) is about how one can get out of debt and stay out of debt forever. During the workshop, you are invited to begin developing your Debt Reduction Plan as well as take a look at what the Bible says about debt and about money management in general. Seminars on special financial topics are also offered periodically throughout the year (such as investing, portfolio management, income tax assistance). Sexual Abuse Recovery Seminars and RetreatsEvery July, the Counseling Center and Diaconate co-sponsor a 1-day seminar titled Beyond Abuse: Dealing with the Weight of Childhood Sexual Abuse. This one day seminar is geared towards women and men affected directly or indirectly by childhood and adolescent sexual abuse (survivors, loved ones, friends of survivors, leaders ministering to survivors). Register for the upcoming July 12th seminar now. Every Summer and Fall, Redeemer promotes a 3 day retreat in the NYC area for women survivors of childhood sexual abuse. The all women's retreat will be Sept. 5-7 and the all men's retreat will be Oct. 10-12. Both will be in the Bronx. The retreat does not focus on the abuse experience, but on biblical ways to move beyond the abuse. For more information on either retreat please call (800) 713-7837 or email information@committedtofreedom.org or go to www.committedtofreedom.org. Theological SOGF ClassEach year the School of Gospel Foundations offers Foundations of the Reformed Faith. This class provides you with an overview of the theology taught in the Westminster Confession of Faith (WCF), the Westminster Larger Catechism (WLC) and the Westminster Shorter Catechism (WSC). For those interested in eventually becoming an officer (Elder, Deacon or Deaconess), we recommend you attend this class. A variation of this class (offered just for officer candidates) is required for all officer candidates. |
